As the Ring King, his costume is simple. He wears a mask covering the top half of his face, tied at the back. It's of a golden colour, with white eye-lenses. A pair of black kickboxing gloves. A black leather jacket, with a compression shirt underneath, then tracksuit bottoms in red and gold, with the word "KING" written on his waist.
Personality: Jack is a polite man, having been raised by a Japanese mother who very much believed in respecting one's elders. When approached by strangers, he is likely to help them out. However, he does possesses his father's hot Irish streak. If someone were to anger him, or hurt someone close to him, they are in for a world of hurt. Hot-headed, loyal and determined, Jack Nelson tries his best every day.

History
John Nelson and Tomoko Watanabe met at the 1988 Seoul Summer Olympics, participating in Boxing and Gymnastics, respectively. Both gold medal finalists for their respective countries of United States and Japan, they met at the Olympic Village and quickly fell in love. Two years later, while living in New York, they had a son: Junnosuke Nelson, nicknamed Jack. It's possible John had trouble saying it.
The son of two prodigious athletes had a lot of expectations placed on him. But Jack never struggled too much to keep up with his athletic's parents demands: daily training, enrolled in after school clubs, in summer camps. What nobody knew was that Jack had been born with a strange mutation, the ability to sense vibrations.
Jack never understood it. Nor did he always have a grasp on it. His parents told him that he would constantly cry every night and have trouble falling asleep, presumably because of the sensory overload on his poor body. But as he grew, he learned how to control it, and realized the advantages it gave him in physical competitions. What move the opponent was going to make, where his pressure points laid...
And because of that, he couldn't compete professionally like his parents wanted him to. He never told a soul, afraid they would take him away from his family, but the guilt having such an advantage hung too heavily over his head. His parents were disappointed, but accepted his son's wishes. Instead, he became a masseuse, as it was somewhere where his abilities could also be used.
Life continued on as normal until John became ill. The wear and tear of an athlete's life had taken its toll on him and his life hung in the balance. Thirty years ago, the operation would have been easy to pay, but not anymore. They had retired to a normal life, and the stardom of gold metals was ephemeral.
To save his father's life, Jack trained and went into a prestigious tournament with a large prize pool. With little trouble, he won. It went against his code, but he never regretted it for one very important reason.
At that tournament, he met his wife-to-be, Jasmine Joo. His fighting style had caught her eye, the way he seemed to be one step ahead of his opponent at all times. They started dating, trained together and eventually, he asked her to marry him.
Later on, Jack learned of Jasmine's father's plight: he had been attacked by a student of his and left on the brink of death. Together, they set out to find this man, a very powerful fighter named Rogue, the leader of a criminal group called the Red Fist.
Clad in masks and striking at night, Jack and Jasmine saw the depths of the underworld, learned the extents of human suffering. Knowing their abilities and skills, they knew they couldn't stay idle against this injustice.
Out of the darkest depths, the RING KING and MANTIS QUEEN were born.
Abilities & Gear
AFTERSHOCK - Seismic Sense: The ability to sense and perceive vibrations. Jack's sense of touch has been heightened to the point he can feel the slightest vibrations around him. His brain interprets these vibrations as images in his mind's eye, giving him a sort of echolocation, a 360 degree vision around him. His Aftershock power only works consciously, or he'd be otherwise overwhelmed with city life.
When concentrating, he can sense vibrations up to a hundred meters away, though the images come back as "blurry" or "vague" the farther it gets. When engaging in close quarter combat (five to ten meters), however, he can sense things like the weight distribution of their stance or the shifting of their bones as they prepare an attack.
MARTIAL ARTS: Jack is the son of an Olympic boxer and has spent a lot of his training. Although boxing is his preferred form, he has also learned some other martial arts like Muay Thai to train other parts of his body. When he met Jasmine, he started training in hapkido as well. His natural skill and athleticism is also enhanced with his Aftershock ability to read and predict opponents.
GYMNASTICS: Jack's mother Tomoko was an Olympic level gymnast, and Jack was eager to please both of his parents with his training. Although he never went to participate in competitions at a professional level, his skill in gymnastics is enough to traverse the rooftops of New York at night.
